Marble Floor Polishing Malahide

Working with natural stone all these years, enduring and solving the challenges of some particular projects, has thought us to appreciate the straight forwardness and simplicity in some of our other projects.

The marble floor polishing in Malahide job was one such straight forward task. A stripping and cleaning, grinding and sealing with a polished finale that all synced up like musical instruments in an orchestra.

The mission, we choose to accept it, was comprised of a 3 man team to complete a 100m2 of a soft creme marfil in an 'L' shape, that took in a open plan kitchen and dining area, to be completed in 12 hours.

Armed with 3 rotary floor machines, 3 grout brushes, 2 mops and buckets and one large wet vac. We started to attack the floor at 7am. Spraying down the stripper agent we quickly advanced and removed all the old seal and polish that tried in vain to resist but It fell away at our feet.

With the floor lying bare and without cover , we started to grind it using our 400 grit diamonds. Soon we had exposed its porous soul and we fastidiously set about applying the base sealant before moving on to the next phase of grinding.

As one man maneuvered his machine in a small circular motion as he worked, another man was on hand with the big vac to remove the resulting slurry, the two operating in tandem, like a fiddle and it's bow.

We were getting a high level of satisfaction in our operation on this project. With music in the background we waltz from each particular phase to the next , admiring the results as we progressed. I love my job.

Pretty soon we were on to the last phase of grinding and we would then start polishing the floor before mopping our way out the door. It had been a long hard day but I love when it all goes so smoothly and the results always speak for themselves.

The production rates on this project are not the norm, It would usually take approximately 8 hours to complete 50m2 with 2 men. So in saying that, this job should have taken 2 days, but with the extra man and only a 15 min lunch break (by consensus) to meet our clients tight schedule, we managed to finish it on time and to everyone's complete satisfaction.
